Bleaching | Reshaping and Contouring | Bonding | Porcelain Veneers

A beautiful smile on a person is probably one of the most important things to have, yet many adults are embarrassed by their smile. More than a few people hide their teeth when they are not pleased with them. They may place their hand over their mouth when they speak or never smile.

A smile expresses joy, happiness and demonstrates warmth.  Smiling makes others feel welcome, special, appreciated, and can make you look younger and more self confident.

So what does your smile say about you? That you're happy? Excited? Embarrassed? The good news is your DHA dentist can help you achieve the smile you have always wanted.

There are many techniques and options to treat teeth that are discolored, chipped, misshapen or missing. Your DHA dentist can reshape your teeth, close spaces, restore worn or short teeth or alter their length. Common procedures include bleaching, bonding, crowns, veneers, and reshaping and contouring.

The number one way to improve your smile is with good home care. Brushing and flossing help prevent the teeth from staining and promote good gum tissue health. No matter how nice your teeth look, if your gums are red and swollen your smile will be unappealing. Take care of your teeth at home and be sure to have regular cleanings at your DHA dentist. Today there are many electric toothbrushes to choose from that are more efficient than a standard toothbrush. Ask your dentist what is best for your health.

The information below is for educational purposes only. UFCW does not have benefits for cosmetic procedures. Please discuss with your DHA dentist your options, costs, and if any of your dental needs qualify for non-cosmetic benefits.

Bleaching

Bleaching is the most cost effective way to regain a youthful smile. The process will remove  discoloration that occurs in the enamel caused by medications, coffee, tea, cigarettes, your genetic make-up, or simply getting older. Bleaching can be performed by a DHA dentist in the office or, under dental supervision, at home. Many patients prefer bleaching at home with a custom made mouthpiece, because it is more convenient. On average whitening at home takes two or three weeks, depending on the desired shade you wish to achieve. Whitening in the office may take multiple appointments depending on the type and color of stain you have. Ask your DHA dentist which technique is best for you.

Reshaping and Contouring

In as little as one appointment your DHA dentist can use a reshaping and contouring procedure to correct crooked teeth, chipped teeth, or alter the length to give you a more confident smile.

Consult with your DHA dentist to find out what is best for you.

Bonding

Bonding is tooth-colored material used to fill in gaps, spaces, chips, or change the color of teeth. This procedure generally requires just a single office visit. Bonding is more susceptible to staining or chipping than other forms of restoration.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers can whiten, straighten and make you look younger in about a week or two! This treatment option works by covering your front teeth with a thin veneer of bonded porcelain. Porcelain veneers are best for improving smiles in which teeth are worn, poorly positioned or discolored. They can last for 10 years or more and porcelain doesn’t show wear as much as bonded teeth do, thus keeping their natural appearance indefinitely.

Now is the time to change that embarrassing smile into the one you have always wanted. Make an appointment with a DHA dentist to see what options are available for you.

While you should discuss the above procedures with your DHA dentist, REMEMBER that cosmetic procedures are not a covered benefit of the UFCW Dental Plan. Many DHA dentists can arrange affordable payment options.
