From the start of DHA's relation with UFCW your local demanded that an emphasis be placed on quality care for its members. To ensure that our high standards are met, a dental office must be personally inspected by a DHA representative before they are allowed to join the network to serve your dental needs.

DHA's network has over 150 dental offices that include general practices and all the specialties (root canals, gum disease, children's dentistry, and oral surgery). The network encompasses an area as far north as Atascadero and Orange County in the south.

At this time DHA is serving only members and their dependents of UFCW Food Division Locals 770/1036 and 324 who are enrolled in the Indemnity Dental Plan. If you are not sure which dental plan you have or to check your eligibility, call your Union Local for this information (see "Contact Us" tab at top the page). Your dental office can also check this information for you via DHA's automated system. This is a very important step since your dental benefits are dependent on which plan you qualify for and your current eligibility status. Remember that eligibility is month to month.

Costs

Your union local has negotiated quality dental care with little or no co-payment for your dental services when you choose a DHA dentist. All plans have an annual deductible per calendar year of $50 per person with a family maximum of $150. The deductible does not apply to routine preventive and diagnostic care (cleaning, examination, and x-rays). Some offices may waive all or part of the annual deductible. Please contact the dental office directly for deductible and co-payment information. Depending on which dental plan you qualify for there will be a maximum that the union will pay. Once you reach your yearly maximum additional payments will be required. If you are not sure which dental plan you have contact the medical benefits department of your Union Local. (See "Contact Us" tab at top the page.) Knowing your benefits before you begin treatment will help avoid any misunderstanding. Remember that eligibility is month to month and depends on the number of hours worked.

Specialty care is also available. DHA specialty offices will extend a courtesy discount to all eligible UFCW Union members and their eligible dependents. Specialty providers available include Endodontists (root canals), Periodontists (gum disease), Pedodontists (children's dentistry) and Oral Surgeons for extractions. Their services will require additional co-payments.

Emergency Care

If you have an existing DHA dentist and are experiencing a dental emergency please call your dental office directly. If you do not have a regular DHA dentist go immediately to the "Find a Dentist in Your Area" tab at the top of this page and follow the on-line directions.

For help during regular business hours call the number listed for the office chosen. The office staff will help you to the best of their ability. If you are calling outside of regular business hours, please listen carefully for the emergency instructions given. Relief from pain is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
